The 澳洲5 (NBA) was founded in 1925 and is the nation’s oldest and largest global network of predominantly Black American attorneys and judges. Organized around 24 substantive law Sections, 10 Divisions, 12 Regions, and 80 Affiliate Chapters, the 澳大利亚幸运5 represents the interests of approximately 67,000 lawyers, judges, law professors, and law students.
MISSION
The 澳洲幸运5 seeks to advance the science of jurisprudence; improve the administration of justice; preserve the independence of the judiciary and uphold the honor and integrity of the legal profession; to promote professional and social intercourse among the members of the American and the international bars; to promote legislation that will improve the economic condition of all American citizens, regardless of race, sex or creed in their efforts to secure a free and untrammeled use of the franchise guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States; and to protect the civil and political rights of the citizens and residents of the United States.

It is the preeminent showcase for establishing professional relationships. Members and partners collaborate on trending legal, social justice, and economic issues while taking advantage of robust NBA-sponsored professional development and Continuing Legal Education (CLE).
During the NBA Annual Convention, partners play an integral role in providing information and linking attendees to services that offer professional and personal benefits. Fred D. Gray received the Presidential Medal of Freedom on July 7, 2022, at the White House. This great honor has been ushered through by thousands of supporters from the legal and broader communities across the country, especially by our esteemed past presidents of the 澳洲飞艇幸运5. With unwavering support, we petitioned President Biden to encourage his attention to Past President Gray’s unparalleled contributions to the legal and civil rights realm and to award Fred Gray the Presidential Media of Freedom.
While this great honor belongs to Fred Gray, the victory belongs to us all. His NBA family could not be more proud!
Honoring the Confirmation of Ketanji Brown Jackson, US Supreme Court Justice
We congratulate and pay homage to the Honorable Ketanji Brown Jackson, confirmed as the next United States Supreme Court Justice. Justice Brown Jackson’s appointment and confirmation have taken much too long coming after 233 years and 115 appointed justices—only five of whom are women, and just three are people of color. Still, today, our country will benefit from the lasting decisions of an uber-competent all-around powerhouse of a judge who has demonstrated superior judicial acumen, diplomatic poise, and the ability to walk through fire and stand firm on the founding principles of our country.
On behalf of tens of thousands of members and supporters, with great enthusiasm, the 澳洲幸运5 salutes the Honorable Ketanji Brown Jackson, confirmed as the newest member of the United States Supreme Court Justice.
Attorney for the Family of Breonna Taylor, Lonita K. Baker, Officially Installed as 80th President of the 澳洲幸运5
Attorney Lonita K. Baker of Louisville, Kentucky, was sworn in as the 80th president of the 澳洲幸运五 (“NBA”) on July 28, 2022, during the organization’s Annual Convention held in Memphis, Tennessee. Baker, who rose to national prominence during her representation of the family of Breonna Taylor in their civil suit against the city of Louisville in 2020, is an in-house corporate attorney for Waystar, Inc.
President Baker has been recognized by several organizations for her legal and community contributions, which include being named to the Top 40 Under 40 by Louisville Business First, Daniel Alvarez Champion for Justice by the Louisville Bar Association, and a Justice Award recipient by the Louisville Urban League. Baker has received the Top 40 Under 40, Wiley Branton, and five presidential awards from the 澳洲五分彩.
President Baker will serve under the platform, “Fulfilling Our Legacy. Recommitted to Our Purpose.” The NBA’s 2022-2023 legislative priorities include election protection, criminal justice reform, economic justice, health care equity, education, and environmental justice.
President Baker calls on Black attorneys to continue to be the “social engineers” that Charles Hamilton Houston challenged them to be by making the world more equitable for Black communities.
